Manufacturing AI startup onepredict believes that Korea's next globally competitive export should not be a single product, but an AI Native Factory—a manufacturing operating model in which AI orchestrates the entire factory.

The company's CEO, Byeng Dong Youn, presented this vision during his keynote speech at the PHM Korea 2026 Annual Conference, held at The Westin Josun Seoul on June 25.

According to onepredict, an AI Native Factory is a next-generation manufacturing operating system in which multiple AI agents responsible for production, quality, maintenance, and energy management collaborate under the coordination of a unified AI system. Unlike conventional approaches that apply AI to individual processes, the AI Native Factory is designed to place AI at the center of factory-wide operations.

"The future competitiveness of manufacturing will be determined not by the performance of a single AI model, but by the manufacturing operating system that connects and orchestrates multiple AI models," Youn said.

During his keynote, Youn identified four essential technologies required to realize the AI Native Factory:

△ Manufacturing data assetization △ Physics-based data generation △ Explainable AI (XAI) △ Manufacturing Foundation Models (MFM)

He emphasized that data assetization—structuring and organizing manufacturing data so AI can understand and utilize it—is the critical first step. He also noted that industrial AI must evolve beyond simply detecting anomalies to explaining root causes and recommending corrective actions in order to deliver practical value on the factory floor.

A panel discussion following the keynote focused on AI Transformation (AX) in manufacturing. Youn argued that while manufacturing AI has traditionally concentrated on improving algorithm performance, the industry's next challenge is integrating AI into real operational workflows.

"With world-class manufacturing capabilities and advanced AI technology, Korea should aim to export not only manufactured products, but AI-operated factories themselves," he said.

Founded in 2016, onepredict has built its business on industrial equipment diagnostics and Predictive Maintenance (PdM) technologies. The company is currently leading a national R&D project supported by Korea's Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy to develop core technologies for Manufacturing Foundation Models (MFM).

PHM Korea 2026, organized by the Korean Society for Prognostics and Health Management, was held from June 24 to 27, bringing together more than 300 participants from industry, academia, and research institutions.
