Account Overview

This account is a prominent petrochemical industry company in Korea, specializing in the production of synthetic resins, synthetic raw materials, and synthetic rubber through their extensive chemical plant operations.

Challenge

The client was consistently prioritizing transformer management in order to mitigate the risk of plant downtime and potential accidents that could pose harm to individuals caused by a single defect. Ensuring site safety was of utmost importance. The facility underwent regular inspections on a monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, and annual basis. While inspections were conducted in units, the management of numerous transformers resulted in a substantial amount of documentation and additional concerns alongside the actual maintenance work. In the existing method of facility inspection, one of the challenges lies in accurately assessing the current and future condition of transformers. This was primarily due to variations in international standards and individual judgment criteria when analyzing the gas value in the transformer's oil.

To address these issues, the client explored facility prediction and diagnosis solutions. During the evaluation process, they considered implementing guardione® substation, developed in collaboration with KEPCO, the largest transformer operator in Korea. Guardione® offered a comprehensive preventive diagnosis system for substation facilities, making it an appealing choice for the client.

Project

Guardione® Substation was applied to some transformers first, and the transformers were managed based on condition diagnosis prediction insights for facilities.

1. Guardione® Substation provided diagnosis results that aligned with international standards, including IEC and IEEE, in addition to self-diagnosis results.

2. Guardione® dashboard facilitated easy access to data regarding the transformer's inspection history, allowing for convenient monthly and yearly checks.

Result

Guardione® Substation has proven to provide a satisfactory experience for customers as described above. As a result, when it came time to renew the contract, the client expanded the scope of the solution from 13 to 60 target facilities. By continuously utilizing guardione® solution, the client prioritizes on-site safety and aims to prevent accidents that may occur unexpectedly.

1. With guardione®, the condition of transformers is diagnosed, and failure points are predicted, enabling efficient cost and resource planning for equipment maintenance and replacement.

2. Diagnostic reports and facility history management functions help minimize unnecessary documentation.

3. Guardione® Substation version updates ensure continuous solution maintenance and customer support.
