Account Overview

This account is a leading domestic petroleum company engaged in the refining, lubricants, and petrochemical businesses. They supply energy to both domestic and international markets, ensuring stable energy provision.


Challenge

The client faced significant challenges in pinpointing the cause of an abnormal vibration issue within a centrifugal compressor at a petrochemical complex.


Specifically, fluid instability emerged within the labyrinth seal of the centrifugal compressor, leading to difficulties stemming from asynchronous vibrations. This instability was suspected to result from alterations in the composition of the process gas during operation, a phenomenon never before observed.


Project

Prior to the official implementation of guardione® turbo, there was a desire to validate the accuracy of the diagnostic information generated by the solution. Guardione® Turbo performs domain-wise analysis of vibration and operating factor data to identify the root cause of vibration resulting from fluid instability.



1. It assimilated information on vibration characteristics (FFT, Orbit, Polar, etc.) and operational data (bearing temperature, pressure, etc.).


2. The severity of abnormal vibration was determined through an abnormality scoring system.


3. We provided data from both the centrifugal compressor just before the issue occurred and historical normal operation data. A comprehensive report with diagnostic results for the phenomenon and on-site action recommendations was then delivered. 




Result

Guardione® solution successfully underwent the following verification process, leading to the signing of the implement contract for the entire client's operation.



1. The solution performed a diagnosis, taking into account the vibration analysis results and financial information of the equipment. The final diagnosis identified the occurrence of a gas whirl phenomenon within the labyrinth seal of the facility.


2. Guardione® Turbo stood out as the only product that accurately diagnosed the phenomenon. This was attributed to its unique analysis process, which involved analyzing and interpreting high-resolution vibration signals based on domain knowledge, a capability exclusive to guardione®.
