Challenge

The client experienced high vibration in the steam turbine but struggled to pinpoint the cause using other diagnostic methods.


Project

Guardione® Turbo conducted a comprehensive analysis of vibration and operating factor data to accurately diagnose the steam whirl phenomenon within the steam turbine and pinpoint its fixed location. To uncover the root cause of the increased vibration, the data was analyzed by domain.



1. The analysis involved studying various steam turbine vibration characteristics (FFT, Orbit, Polar, etc.) and trends in operational data (steam temperature/pressure for HP, temperature for N packing).


2. Through the detection and diagnosis of data changes, the solution provided clear and understandable diagnostic results to the client.


3. In response to the identified steam whirl phenomenon causing the vibration issue, the solution proposed recommended maintenance work to resolve the problem.




Result

Guardione® Turbo delivered notably superior abnormality detection accuracy compared to other products, playing a pivotal role in ensuring the steam turbine commissioning period was completed within the scheduled timeframe.
